SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WTHR) — State Police are investigating a shooting that left two men dead in a trailer park.

According to a release from Indiana State Police, one man apparently shot the other, then killed himself just before Midnight Sunday.

Scottsburg Police requested state police on what was described as a shots-fired report at the Scott Villa trailer park in Scottsburg.

A preliminary investigation shows Scottsburg City Police were called by neighbors in the trailer park about a disturbance and a potential gunshot victim.

Just before midnight, a second call was placed to Scott County dispatch from Michael Brandon Jones, 29, who said he was the owner at Lot 21 in the park and that he had just shot a man who Jones claimed was trying to get into his trailer.

When troopers arrived, Scottsburg Police told them a man had been shot by the homeowner and was dead. State Police identified that man as Larry D. Marlowe, 34, of Scottsburg.

Local police said Jones locked himself inside the trailer and was not responding to attempts to contact him. They said witnesses heard a gunshot from inside the trailer after Jones locked himself inside.

After clearing the area and getting a search warrant, officers entered the trailer and found Michael Jones dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Indiana State Police detectives are now leading the investigation into the two deaths.
