INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The State Fair reports just under one million people attended this year, which represents a 24-percent increase over 2016.

According to a media release Sunday night, the 2017 Indiana State Fair welcomed a total of 906,732 people through its gates between opening day on August 4 and closing day Sunday.

The Fair saw steady crowds most days thanks in part to good weather and new attractions.

“Celebrating ‘The Wonderful World of Food’ gave us the opportunity to highlight Indiana agriculture and promote it to hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers throughout the state,” said Indiana State Fair Executive Director, Cindy Hoye, in Sunday's statement. “New features such as the Subaru Skyride and fantastic weather contributed to solid attendance throughout the fair.”

The 2018 Indiana State Fair is scheduled for August 3 through August 18.
