LIVE BLOG: Colts beat Texans 22-13 to close out season 4-12

The Colts added to their narrow lead with a safety and two field goals to win 22-13.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - With the win, the Colts are locked into the third pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.


The Colts ran down the clock on Houston's goal line before kicking a field goal to put the game out of reach at 22-13 with a half minute left.


A safety by Hassan Ridgeway gave the Colts a three point lead at 16-13, and they converted the possession after the Texans' free kick with a long Adam Vinatieri field goal to push their lead to 19-13 with just under nine minutes to go in the game.

Frank Gore has left the game with an injury after recording a career rushing milestone.

The Colts were able to drive down the field on a mix of passes and Frank Gore runs finally getting in the end zone on a Mack one-yard run with 6:57 to go in the third quarter. The extra point was good and the Colts lead the Texans 14 to 13.

The Indianapolis defense did stop the Texans offense forcing them to punt and the Colts go the ball at their own 17 for their first possession of the second half with 13:30 to go in the third quarter.

The Colts attempted a pooch kick-off to start the second half but were not able to make the recovery.

The Texans drove to the Indianapolis 28-yard line where the offense stalled and they settled for a 46-yard field goal that was good putting them up 13 to 7 with 1:49 to go before halftime.

Colts were forced to punt on their next possession and Houston took over at their own 14-yard line.

Houston gets the ball back after the Colts score and go on a long drive of their own scoring on a two-yard run by Blue to back in the lead 10 to 7 with 7:01 left in the second quarter.



Indianapolis drove down the field and capped it off with a 6-yard pass from Brissett to Doyle for the touchdown and the Colts go up 7 to 3 with 14:55 to go in the second quarter.


The Colts started on their own 25-yard after the kick-off following the Texans score.

The Houston Texans started at their own 25-yard line and moved down the field but had to settle for a 52-yard field goal attempt by Fairbain that was good giving the Texans a 3 to 0 lead over the Colts with 8:20 in the first quarter.

The Colts got the ball to start the game and went three and out.

The Indianapolis Colts will finish up the regular season Sunday hosting AFC South division rival the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium with kick-off at 1 p.m.


It could be the last game as a Colt for Frank Gore and for head coach Chuck Pagano.

Both teams have fallen on hard times this year at the bottom of the division and with playoff hopes dashed weeks ago.

The Colts faced an uphill battle all season as quarterback Andrew Luck spent this year on the sidelines recovering from off season shoulder surgery that never allowed him to see any action on the field.

Houston had high hopes as their season began with a solid defense and rookie quarterback DeShaun Watson taking over the offense and leading the offense until an injury during a non-contact drill during practice ended his season.
