COLUMBUS, Ohio (WBNS) - Ohio State fans honored the late Tyler Trent before the Buckeyes' game against Purdue Wednesday night.
A Purdue superfan whose battle against cancer inspired many was honored at the Ohio State University basketball game at the Schottenstein Center Wednesday.
Players, coaches and attendees participated in a moment of silence for Trent before the game as his photo was shown on the arena's scoreboard. A sign with the phrase "We Are #TylerStrong" stretched across the crowd near the court.
Trent passed away earlier this month after battling cancer. During his final months, Trent's story and spirit inspired the nation, including Purdue's football team, which upset the then-second-ranked Buckeyes in West Lafayette October 20 with Trent watching on.
Riley Children's Foundation, along with Tyler and his family, have created the Tyler Trent Cancer Research Endowment for Riley Hospital. You can donate here.
This is in addition and separate from the cancer research endowment already started at Purdue.
Purdue University donors have also established a special scholarship to honor Tyler.
