NEWTON, Iowa — Defending NTT IndyCar series champion Josef Newgarden dominated Saturday night's second race of the Iowa 250s doubleheader, winning from the pole.
Newgarden notched his first win of the season and 15th of his career, and ended a dry spell the stretched back to last year’s race at Iowa.
Newgarden beat Penske teammate Will Power to complete a sweep of the doubleheader by Team Penske after Simon Pagenaud won Friday night.
“Feels really good,” said Newgarden, who finished fifth in last night’s Race 1 despite leading 68 laps. “I don’t know what we’ve got to do to keep the bad luck off us, but hopefully this is a good start."
Graham Rahal finished third.
Pagenaud started last and finished fourth and Scott Dixon fifth.
