Indians teammates make pro baseball history with twin cycles in 12-5 win

The Indianapolis Indians made baseball history with an exceptional performance by two teammates Tuesday night.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Indianapolis Indians made baseball history with an exceptional performance by two teammates Tuesday night.

Kevin Newman and Jacob Stallings each hit for the cycle - collecting a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game - in a 12-5 win over Lehigh Valley at Victory Field.

Moments after Newman homered in the eighth inning to complete his cycle, Stallings tripled to match the feat.

It was just the second time in professional baseball history that two teammates have hit for the cycle in the same game and the first occurred just four months ago. The San Jose Giants accomplished the feat in a game in April.

The twin cycles were just the fifth and sixth by Indians players since 1996, the team reported.
