Columbus East romps past New Palestine in 5A showdown

NEW PALESTINE, Ind. (WTHR) - Columbus East jumped to an early lead and cruised past host New Palestine, 35-7, Friday night.

Josh Major ran for two first half touchdowns and threw for another as the Olympians took a 20-7 lead into halftime.

The second half belonged to Jamon Hogan. The Columbus East junior scored on a six-yard run, then added another score in the fourth quarter to cap off the victory.

Duron Ford had a one-yard scoring run for the Dragons, who had made the state championship game each of the last two years, winning the title in 2014.

Columbus East will host Martinsville next week.
