Pain Management Specialist Dr. Jocelyn Bush said the Center For Disease Control estimates 50 million Americans deal with chronic pain and 20 million have pain on a daily basis.

Chronic pain can greatly affect daily life where simple actions like standing and walking.

People have many sources of pain and one of the most common is spinal stenosis which is the narrowing of the spinal canal that puts pressure on the nerves running up the back and neck.

"The nerves are now passing through a smaller area and as they are passing through this area they are getting pinched and compressed," Dr. Bush told 13INside Track. "The pain you get from a compressed nerve is like a burning or a throbbing."

Lumbar spinal stenosis is spinal stenosis in the lower back. This can happen at any age and is generally caused by the normal wear and tear on a body.

The Center For Pain Management has treatments for lumbar spinal stenosis. Vertiflex is one treatment that can help relieve pain. A device is inserted between parts of the spine that acts like a door stop or extension blocker of the spine.

"The patient's nerves are instantly relieved of pain the pain," Dr. Bush said. "It's a 90% satisfaction rate."
