13INside Track visits the Shepherd Community Center

The Shepherd Community Center Christmas Store has new COVID-19 safety protocols to keep parents safe when picking up presents.

Shepherd Community Center on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis helps break the cycle of poverty by engaging and empowering the community.

"We have programs for from birth through college into careers and family," said Andrew Green of Shepherd Community Center. "So it's a preschool, school, after school, summer programs, financial coaching and employment coaching."

"The Christmas Store is one of our favorite things that happens here at the center. We transform our building. We will have different rooms for different age groups," Green said. "This year will look a bit different. Folks will be able to pull up out front and our team will walk them virtually through the store and the families can pick out toys, clothes and items for the kids for the holiday."

Kids will also have an opportunity to pick out gifts for their parents to put under the Christmas tree at the Shepherd Community Center Christmas Store.
