Ashley Marks and Stacy Crider, partners at Hankey Law Office, share tips for those involved in car accidents.

Marks explains, "I try to explain evidence to our clients like it's a boiling pot of water. From the moment that it happens, that evidence can be slowly dissipating. So it's important to really capture it."

First of all, get to a hospital and seek medical treatment. If you are able, take photos and videos of the scene of the accident. Or ask someone else to help. Then call the police to file a report.

Crider adds, "Oftentimes, you don't really know exactly how injured you are in the heat of the moment, with adrenaline rushing, and things like that. And afterwards, you can find that you're more sore, or have more extensive injuries than you originally know. It can lead to nerve damage and other bigger issues. So it's really important to go get treatment, even if you don't think you're very injured."

If you're not sure what to do next, Hankey Law offers free legal consultations to better understand the process.
