FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) - One person was seriously injured Monday when an SUV ran into the back of a semi trailer on an interstate highway.

The crash resulted in the closure of all southbound lanes of I-69 near Southeastern Parkway.

It happened around 6:30 pm at the 208.5 milemarker and involved at least two vehicles.

Sgt. Tom Weger, a Fishers police public information officer, said some traffic delays had been reported in the area prior to the crash, but it's not known of the semi-tractor trailer was stopped in traffic or why the SUV driver struck it.

A medical helicopter responded to the scene and landed on lanes opposite the crash, resulting in all northbound traffic also being stopped for a time.

Northbound traffic resumed around 7:00 pm, but Fishers police said southbound lanes would remain closed for some time. All southbound traffic is being diverted onto Southeastern Parkway.
