Snowy Wednesday as temperatures drop through the day

Roads are wet in the metro area this morning as drizzle and snow fall around the area.

We are looking for the Winter Weather Advisory to stay in effect all day with the snow accumulating as the temps drop during the day.

Most of the measurable snow is in the northern part of our viewing area. Look for 3 to 5 inches of snow to fall on a line from Muncie to Kokomo to Lafayette by the end of the evening rush hour. Look for 1 to 3 inches of snow in the metro area but as the snow melts on contact, the actual accumulation will be lower.

Look for a big drop in temperatures as colder air funnels in Thursday through Saturday.

By next week, we return to the 50s but with rain.

ON THIS DAY IN CENTRAL INDIANA WEATHER HISTORY:

1963: In Indianapolis, the record low temperature for the date is set at -6 degrees.
