GREENWOOD, Ind. (WTHR) — Practice at Greenwood Christian Academy is intense. The small school is working with some very big basketball talent.

The boys team is ranked No. 1 in Class 1A with a perfect 21-0 record.

"It's definitely special," coach Jonny Marlin said. "There's two goals that we have here. One of them is to grow spiritually and the other one is to win a state championship."

The boys practice like a well oiled machine. The team has nine seniors who grew up on the court together. Now they're cahsing the shcool's first-ever state title in any sport.

Senior Champ McCorkle said while the perfect record would be nice, at the end of the day, only winning the championship matters.

"That'd be huge for our program, never having been past regionals."

While the boys' team is on its way to making history, the girls' team is right there with them.

They made history last week winning the school's first-ever regional title. Now, they're just two wins away from a state championship.

"A ton of us have been at GCA from Kindergarten. Being able to represent our school at that level would be super special," said junior Izzy Reed.

"They're kind of paving the way for us," McCorkle said. "I hope they get two more wins."
