Spooky treats for your pets

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WTHR) — You've likely heard how dangerous chocolate and sweets can be for your pets, but it's always a great reminder as your kids get ready for trick or treating.

WTHR's Carlos Diaz did the research and found out what could happen if your dogs get in these various Halloween treats:

  • Chocolate: Vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal heartbeat, tremors, seizures, death
  • Licorice: Irregular heart rhythms, increased blood pressure
  • Sugar-Free Candy: Vomiting, lethargy, loss of coordination, seizures, liver failure
  • Gum: Low blood pressure, loss of coordination, seizures, liver failure
  • Popcorn: Vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, elevated body temperature, seizures, death
  • Raisins: Kidney failure
  • Nuts: Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, pancreatitis

If you're looking to spoil your pets for the spooky holiday, Paw Street Bakery in Plainfield has plenty of treats and cakes made with quality, human-grade ingredients by local, highly-skilled bakers.
