'Sister, Sister' actress confirms niece was victim in California bar shooting


THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (WTHR) — Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley said her niece Alaina Housley was one of 12 victims killed in the Southern California mass shooting on Wednesday.

"Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her, and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner, Mowry-Housley told NBC. "We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time."

Mowry-Housley who is best known for her role in the '90s TV show 'Sister-Sister' and as a host on 'The Real' responded to a tweet from a college student who was looking for her suitemate.

"My suitemate is still missing, she is wearing denim shorts, a blue flannel and sneakers, pls let me know if you know anyhing."

At 9.am. the 'Sister, Sister' star had posted Alaina still had not been located.

It wasn't until Thursday afternoon that she confirmed Alaina was one of the victims, NBC reported.

11 other people were also killed at the bar in California. The gunman was identified as 28-year-old Marine Corps veteran who also died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
