LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WTHR) - There's a warning from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff about a police impersonator who is trying to get people to pay up.

In an incident that happened Friday, a caller told the victim that there was a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty, and that they clear it up by paying with a prepaid card.

Police say this isn't the first time such a scam has happened this year.

The sheriff's department wants to remind people that they will never call to ask for a payment.
