MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - The Monroe County sheriff will soon be releasing the body camera footage of the incident that led to the death of a man.

Daniel Boyer's family wants to watch it first.

The incident happened on August 7 when a veteran deputy along with a rookie in training approached a mobile home to serve a warrant.

They say Boyer met them with a handgun. That's when they shot and killed him.

The sheriff's office plans to release that video after the family watches it, since the prosecutor is not pursuing any charges against the officers involved

The officers went to a mobile home in the 5900 block of Tower Road around 9 a.m. to serve a warrant to a woman. The deputies also had information that Boyer, 24, also wanted on a warrant, may be there.

Boyer reportedly went out the back door, where deputies were waiting, when the two deputies serving the warrant arrived and announced themselves.

Sheriff Brad Swain said Boyer then blurted out profanities and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the two deputies. They opened fire on him and began first aid until paramedics arrived.

Medics transported Boyer to a Bloomington hospital where he later died.

The sheriff said deputies had previously tried to arrest Boyer and that same address, but he got away.

Police did locate the woman they were trying to serve a warrant to at the mobile home. They arrested her and two other women. All three could face charges, including one who reportedly had drugs on her.

Deputies also found a 16-year-old boy they identified as a runaway from Indianapolis in the home. Paramedics had to transport him to the hospital after he suffered what the Swain suspects is a drug reaction.
