Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued

Sean Ash

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 PM for areas along and west of I-65. We're expecting a storm cluster, with a history of wind damage, in northeast Illinois to impact the watch area between now and 10 PM. However, additional storms possible outside of the watch box.

The complex is moving south-southeast at nearly 45 mph. If it holds at that speed here are some ETAs. Could definitely sped up and has plenty of instability to work with. Damaging wind gusts possible in its path.

In addition to damaging wind potential, flash flooding rain rates are likely along with frequent lightning. Please be safe if you're outdoors and watch radar closely.
