Seven horses, other animals die in Boone County barn fire

Several animals, including seven horses, died in a barn fire in northern Boone County early Friday morning, and two horses were injured.

The call came in shortly after 2:00 am from 8960 N 675 West.

Seven horses, a pig and several chickens died in the fire.

Eyewitness News has learned that two horses were treated for burns at the Purdue Vet Clinic.

The barn is considered a total loss. At this point the cause of the fire is unknown, but a heat lamp was on to keep the chickens warm.

Firefighters used dump tanks because no hydrants were in the area.

A pick-up truck, car and motor home were also damaged in the fire.
