INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — It's that time again, race fans. The Pinewood Derby — the second greatest spectacle in racing — is inviting residents to race their cars at the Indiana State Museum.

The museum has a two-story, 125-foot race track where competitors can test how fast their cars can fly.

Official race day is on Saturday, April 6 and those interested must enter to race by noon on that day.

Competitors who are 5 to 16 years old must register for the youth category and everyone 17 and older will register as an adult. For race day rules, click here.

If you feel the need to practice before the big day, the Indiana State Museum will host "open track" from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 2 to April 7.

Race day competitors can also enter their cars into the Best in Show visual design competition. Those cars will be awarded based on their visual design. To see the rules, click here.

Entry in to the race is covered by museum admission. Those interested can buy tickets online.
