INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A Decatur Township school resource officer is leading a drive to help IMPD officers feel a little more at home as they help patrol their schools.

Officer Chase Lyday is one of four police officers on the force protecting Decatur Township Schools. He said IMPD officers assist the district with investigations and support every day and each night, when there is no school resource officer on duty.

He took to Facebook Tuesday in search of donations that would turn a room in the school into a substation for IMPD to give officers a place to work on campus. Lyday also said the room could work as a remote roll call site for Metro Police.

"The more their officers are on campus, the safer our school district is!" he wrote.

Lyday was hoping to get "decent" office furniture, chairs, a couch, a television and a table for a microwave, coffee pot and refreshments. He also hoped to find "police pictures in frames, motivational quotes, or police-related interior decorations."

Friends, I need help from the community!!! Our school district only has four police officers to service 33 square...

Lyday was also looking for a skilled interior decorator to help bring it all together.
