(WTHR) – Rust-oleum is issuing a recall of its black satin countertop coating because it contains levels of lead that exceed the federal lead paint ban.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Wednesday.

The recall includes about 1,800 one-quart cans with the product number 263209 and batch code P7612D. The product number and batch code are printed on the bottom of the can.

The can is silver and the label is green and white. The label lists, "countertop coating," "black satin," "renew laminate surfaces" and "moisture & scratch resistant."

According to the product safety commission, lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.

Consumers who have purchased the product should stop using it immediately.

Consumers should contact Rust-Oleum at 1-800-908-4050.
