INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - It has been a busy start to this holiday shopping weekend. With all the focus on presents and the hottest holiday trends, it can be easy to forget the need to give back during this time of the year.

After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday. And on this “Giving Tuesday,” the Riley Children’s Foundation hopes to raise $100,000. The foundation planned out the entire day, which starts with a lot of activities in the food court at the Circle Centre Mall. They will be out there starting at 5 a.m. on Tuesday November 28. Laura Buckner with Riley Children's Foundation says there is a never ending need to raise money for the children at Riley Hospital for Children.

Buckner added, “When a family steps into Riley Hospital, the hospital wraps its arms around the whole family, and they don’t want to just treat the child’s body or the disease or the condition or the injury, they want to treat the whole family.”

So to do that, the hospital needs donations to go towards things insurance doesn’t cover such as child life specialists. Buckner says this person might be the one to show your child how an IV goes into his or her arm by demonstrating the process on a doll first.
