(WTHR) – Nestle Purina PetCare Company is recalling some of their wet cat food due to a "potential presence of rubber pieces."

The company recalled three-ounce cans of 'Muse wet cat food Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy' Friday after discovering that the product could contain rubber pieces that are translucent yellow with a blue backing, causing a potential choking hazard.

The affected products were distributed nationwide and were sold at pet specialty and e-commerce retailers. The company has asked retailers to pull the product from the shelves.

The recalled product has a production code of 80941162 with a BEST BY date of APR2020. For customers who purchased a variety pack, only the Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy cans are included in the recall.

There have been no reports of injury or illness to cats because of the rubber pieces.

The company says if you have the product, they recommend "that you discard any of the affected product you may have, and we will replace it."

Purina can be reached at 1-800-982-3885, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
