WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WTHR) – After walking 100 miles, Aaron Lai could use some new shoes.

And that's exactly what Purdue Athletics got him as a 'thank you' for raising about $30,000 for cancer research in honor of Tyler Trent.

Lai completed the walk from his Purdue fraternity house to IU Bloomington's Assembly Hall just in time for the rival teams' game February 19.

As well as making the long journey over three days, Lai set up a GoFundMe account to go towards Tyler Trent's Cancer Research Endowment.

February 27 was the last day to donate to Lai's GoFundMe.
