INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Metro police have finalized the procession route for Southport Police Lt. Aaron Allan's funeral Saturday.

After visitation from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Crown Hill Cemetery, Allan's body will be taken to Bankers Life Fieldhouse early Saturday morning for his funeral starting at 11 a.m.

Following the funeral services, a procession will carry Allan's body to the Southport Police Department, where he served for six years, for a ceremony. After that ceremony, the procession will head back north, returning to Crown Hill for Allan's burial in the Heroes of Public Safety section of the cemetery.

We have created this map of the route, including places where mourners are expected to gather to pay their final respects as the procession passes.

If you plan to pay your respects during the procession, police are urging you not to park along the route. Instead, use several of the large parking lots along Madison Avenue on the south side. That includes Beck Auto Service, which is encouraging mourners to use their lot at Madison and Edgewood.

For those who aren't attending the procession, but have travel to do around the south side, be aware that the road closures could last awhile. This is especially true if you're traveling north of Southport Road on US 31 and Madison Avenue. The procession will likely start its trip through the south side around 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Lt. Allan's family fund are requested. Those donations can be made to: Lt. Aaron Allan Memorial Fund, c/o Indianapolis Police Foundation, 1525 S. Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203 or at IndyPoliceFoundation.org.

Police also say you could consider donating blood in Lt. Allan's memory.
