Police shoot and kill dog after several people bitten


INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Monday morning, Indianapolis Metro police were called about a man injured after being attacked by a dog.

They found the man near East Michigan and North Rural streets. Police were also told the dog had attacked several other people in a home there.

As officers arrived, they said the dog charged them. The officers opened fire, shooting and killing the dog.

Medical crews arrived and found three adults and a child had been bitten by the dog. All were taken to the hospital for treatment.

An Administrative review will be conducted for each reported discharge of a firearm by an IMPD Officer. The officers will remain on full duty.
