Police rule deadly crash a homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — State Police say a deadly crash Saturday night has been ruled a homicide.

Crews responded to the crash on I-70 west near Post Road around 7 p.m. for reports of a serious two-vehicle crash.

Police found 27-year-old Devon Anderson of Indianapolis dead at the scene.

Police initially believed Anderson died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he was identified as 24 year old Juan Garrado Vivas of Indianapolis.

Monday, the Marion County Coroner's office notified State Police Anderson has died from a gun shot wound to the head.

Police arrested Juan Garrado Vivas on a preliminary charge of murder.

Police say while driving on the interstate Vivas allegedly fired a shot from a handgun into the vehicle driven by Anderson, striking Anderson in the head.

The silver Dodge Caravan driven by Anderson then crossed into the path of the black Ford Ranger driven by Vivas.
