Police looking for person of interest in alleged child touching incident at grocery store

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WTHR) — Police in Speedway are hoping to find a man accused of approaching and touching a 2-year-old child.

The incident allegedly happened at the Kroger in Speedway.

The child's mother said the incident happened last week. She said she called 911 from the store on Crawfordsville Road last Monday.

That's where she told police a middle-aged man tried to grab her two-year-old daughter.

This reportedly happened when her daughter walked down a grocery aisle with her grandmother.

"I confronted the man and asked him what he was doing and why he was following my child around the store," Morgan Roberts said. "He got super defensive and said he was shopping. He had placed his basket by the checkout lane, by the self- checkout lane and said he was just checking out."

Speedway Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers. That number is 317-262-tips.
