Police looking for driver of 'vehicle of interest' in Kokomo murder, kidnapping case

KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) — Police in Kokomo are looking for the driver of a van that is believed to be connected to a homicide and kidnapping investigation.

A surveillance image was released showing the van in the 700 block South Courtland on Feb. 3.

That was the evening Lashay R. Young-Beard, 25, was found shot to death in the backyard of a home on that street. As police were responding to the incident, they found a 24-year-old man tied up in a bathtub in the home.

He told police he had been held there for 11 days and was beaten and burned with hot water.

Police arrested 31-year-old Troy Lamar Wilson, 30-year-old Uriah M. Levy and 28-year-old Steven B. Allen.

Wilson was arrested for confinement and aggravated battery.

Levy is facing the same charges as Wilson, while Allen is facing a felony charge for aiding, inducing or causing criminal confinement.

Police arrested Wilson and three others in a separate kidnapping and torture case.

The other suspects were Jamie Travis, 33, Amanda Bogue, 32, and Brittany Causey, 21.

The four were accused of kidnapping, beating and torturing a 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man in the fall and then again in the winter of 2019. They told officers they didn't go to the police because they feared for their lives.
