Police investigating body found near city park as a homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Metro police are investigating the discovery of a body near a city park as a homicide.

Police were called to the 2300 block of Groff Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. Friday. The location is not far from Centennial and Groff Park.

When officers and medics arrived, they found an adult male on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police haven't shared any information about the possible cause of death, but a spokesman said he had "apparent trauma to the body."

Authorities have not shared his identity.
