Police: INDOT vehicle stolen from construction zone

FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) - State Police are investing after an INDOT vehicle was stolen from a construction Wednesday morning.

Police say an INDOT employee parked the car in the work site near I-69 and 116th street in Fishers around 8 a.m. and noticed it missing around 10:15 a.m.

Police confirm the vehicle was left with the keys inside and unlocked.

Contract workers in the zone noticed a white male, described to be in his 30s with short brown hair and a brown sweatshirt driving the vehicle but they assumed it was an INDOT employee.

State Police in Ft. Wayne later found the stolen car abandoned.
