Police clear reports of shooter, no threat found on University of Michigan campus

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WTHR) – The University of Michigan has reported the campus clear with no threat found by police.

The university sent out an alert Saturday afternoon following reports of a possible active shooter at Mason Hall on campus.

The alert sent out by the university listed Run Hide Fight safety tips:

  • Try to remain calm
  • Wait for an "ALL CLEAR" or officer directions to resume your normal activities
  • If sheltering in place, silence your phone, turn off lights, and stay quiet
  • If you can safely get out of harm's way, run
  • If evacuating, do not use elevators

According WDIV, there are reports that the Bell Tower Hotel is also on lockdown.

The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating the situation.

As of 5:32 p.m., University of Michigan's Public Safety says there does not appear to be an active threat but continues to warn people to stay away from the area during further investigation.

At 7:53 p.m., the university reported the situation all clear. Police did not find a threat to the campus.
