VICTORIA, British Columbia (WTHR) – Canadian Police Chief Del Manak doesn't mess around when it comes to littering.

The chief recently wrote up a hefty ticket to a 21-year-old driver who flicked a cigarette butt out his window while Manak was driving nearby.

“575 reasons to not throw your lit cigarette out the car window in front of @vicpdcanada,” he tweeted.

Manak pulled the driver over and when he asked why the driver littered, he responded, "I didn't want my car to burn."

"Then don't smoke in your car," was Manak's response.

The chief cited the driver under the province’s Wildfire Act and fined him 575 Canadian dollars ($433 USD).
