Police chase leads to Center Grove Schools lockdown

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) — A police chase that started overnight led to a lockdown at Center Grove Schools Monday morning.

It started when a deputy tried to stop a speeding car around 3 a.m.

That driver took off and was able to get away from the deputy.

As police were searching, they got calls about a suspicious person near Fairview Road and County Road 400 W.

In the same area, police found the suspect's car crashed into a tree. It turns out that car was stolen.

A cell phone left in the car helped police identify the suspect as Kevin Cabe.

As they continued to search, they got a call from a person saying they found a man hiding in their bathroom in their home.

Nearby Center Grove schools were put on lockdown.

Police say Cabe left the house before they got there, but officers were able to use dogs to track him down and make an arrest.

He's facing initial charges of residential entry and resisting arrest.
