Police chase, arrest 3 women in Carmel for Kokomo strong arm robbery

KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) - Police from three counties pursued and arrested three Indianapolis women for a strong armed robbery at a Kokomo shoe store Friday evening.

They discovered more stolen goods in their car.

Kokomo police say just before 5 p.m. they were called to investigate a theft at Englin’s Footwear on South Reed Road. Employees said three women had left the store with several pairs of UGG boots. They left Markland Mall in a blue Chevy Malibu with paper plates. Mall security told police they were threatened with pepper spray by one of the women when he attempted to stop them. Kokomo Police upgraded the call from theft to strong armed robbery and notified agencies in other counties.

Howard County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the Malibu and tried to make a traffic stop, but the car sped away through Tipton County and into Hamilton County.

Police say the women threw stolen property from the vehicle during the pursuit.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies used stop sticks and the car stopped in the area of Clay Terrace in Carmel, where all three women in the car were arrested and back to the Howard County jail.

Kokomo Police towed the vehicle and, after getting a search warrant, investigators found merchandise with security tags believed to be stolen from businesses across central Indiana.

The women face several felony charges:

Alexis M. Drake, 23, Indianapolis

  • Robbery (Level 5 Felony)
  • Theft (Level 6 Felony)
  • Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony)
  • Operating a motor vehicle without ever obtaining a license (B Mis)
  • Leaving the scene of a crash (B Mis)

Alaejcia M. McIntyre, 21, Indianapolis

  • Robbery (Level 5 Felony)
  • Theft (Level 6 Felony)
  • Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony)

Myeisha M. Watts, 26, Indianapolis

  • Robbery (Level 5 Felony)
  • Theft (Level 6 Felony)
  • Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony)
