INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Metro homicide detectives have arrested a woman for her involvement a fatal shooting Wednesday morning on the north side.

A man, later identified as Jermaine Ivory Taylor, 37, was found shot several times outside a car near 30th and Delaware streets just after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. Police say Taylor was taken to the hospital in critical condition with wounds to the abdomen and lower torso, and died there.

Homicide detectives said Wednesday night they wanted to question 33-year-old Monica Hampton about the shooting. A day later, they announced that she had been arrested after coming to police on her own to answer detectives' questions.

Police say Hampton was arrested for her involvement in Taylor's murder. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will determine final charges against Hampton.

Five ballistic cones marked shell casings at the scene.

Police are checking on whether the shooting was related to an earlier call about a disturbance nearby on Talbott Street.
