Police arrest suspect in connection with 66-year-old man's death in Speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WTHR) - An Indianapolis man is charged in the death of a man in Speedway.

Police say some sort of family disturbance happened about 4:45 Monday morning on W. 10th Street near Lyndhurst. A 66-year-old man was killed and his wife was injured.

Joseph Bryant, 23, was arrested and taken to the Speedway Police Department for questioning. Bryant now faces preliminary charges of involuntary manslaughter and battery with serious bodily injury. Formal charges with be filed at a later date by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.

Police are still looking into exactly what happened.

Eyewitness News saw a front window of the house broken out and glass scattered on the ground. Roberta Hopkins, a next-door neighbor, was saddened to hear the news.

"They were nice people. They kept to themselves, they didn't bother anybody, had no problems with them. I wondered what was going on today," she said. "I like them. They were good people. He had a motorcycle, 'cause when my old man was alive, he had a motorcycle and he’d come over and talk about motorcycles and things like that."
