Pleasant weekend, snow and cold next week

This weekend's weather will be the best in the entire extended outlook with major changes arriving early in the work week.

Take advantage of mainly sunny skies today. Temperatures will rebound to the upper 40s this afternoon with a strong southwest wind gusting to 25 mph at times.

Staying mostly clear and not as cold overnight due to that southwest wind with lows in the low to mid 30s.

Sunday will by far be the warmest day in the 7 day forecast with highs in the mid 50s with a partly to mostly cloudy sky.

Our next weather system will arrive overnight Sunday into Monday morning bringing a mix of rain showers changing over to all snow with temperatures falling from the 30s into the 20s. Light accumulations will be possible.

Once this system exits, bitter cold settles in with near-record cold Tuesday morning with lows forecast in the mid teens and wind chills in the 0-10° range.

Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday struggle to get above the freezing mark.

We'll see a slight relief from the near-record cold by Thursday with highs back in the 40s late week. - Lindsey Monroe
