BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) - Animals evacuated from Florida due to Hurricane Irma are finding a temporary home in Monroe County.

The Bloomington Animal Shelter is taking in six dogs and 18 cats from Florida. They'll all eventually be up for adoption, but right now, only two dogs are ready to find their forever homes.

The animals had a long journey. The Humane Society transported more than 160 cats and dogs from Florida to various shelters in the Midwest.
