Passenger seriously injured in DUI crash near Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WTHR) - A Friday night crash in West Point near Lafayette sent a seriously injured man to the hospital and another man to jail.

According to Tippecanoe County authorities, Dejon Reed was heading south on State Road 25 when his car ran off the road and rolled over, ejecting Jason Reed, who was riding with Dejon Reed.

Jason Reed went to St. Elizabeth East Hospital in an ambulance and remains in serious condition. The Tippecanoe County FACT Team was called to investigate the crash.

Dejon Reed was also taken to St. Elizabeth East Hospital with minor injuries before he was arrested on multiple charges:

  • Operating While Intoxicated Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury
  • Operating While Never Receiving A License Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury
  • False Informing

This case remains under investigation.
