One dead in Wednesday morning crash on I-70

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — A woman is dead after a crash on Interstate 70 near the airport around 5:30 a.m.

Officials say the woman was parked in a gray Toyota Rav 4 on westbound I-70, sitting inside her car. They believe she may have been waiting for assistance for a flat tire.

A black Ford F-150 hit the woman's car, killing her.

The driver of the pick-up truck went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wayne Township Fire Department and Decatur Township Fire Department assisted in the crash.

Crews got the woman's body from the car around 7 a.m.

The vehicles involved were towed away around 8 a.m., but traffic remained backed up to I-465.

Traffic reporter Mimi Pearce suggests getting off at US-40, Washington Street from the north.

From the south, exit at SR-67, Kentucky Avenue and continue onto Ameriplex Parkway.
