One dead in fiery crash that shut down I-65 at Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WTHR) - One person died in a crash on Interstate 65 near Columbus Saturday evening.

According to Columbus police, around 4:45 p.m. a Pontiac G5 was backing up southbound in the northbound left lane of I-65 about a mile south of the State Road 46 exit to Columbus when it was struck by a Honda Pilot traveling north.

The Pontiac caught fire and the driver, who has not been identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, Vanessa Rosborough, 31, of Indianapolis was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Rosborough's passenger, Emily McNiff, 28, of Fishers, Indiana was flown to IU Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed at the 64 mile marker past 7 p.m.
