Ohio man charged with assault after catching alleged child molester in the act

EASTLAKE, Ohio (WTHR) - An Ohio man is facing felony assault charges for allegedly attacking a teenager he caught molesting a young boy.

According to WKYC-TV, police were called to a home near Cleveland Thursday for a report of an assault.

Police arrested 20-year-old Richard Adams for felonious assault, according to reports. The police report stated Adams walked in on a 17-year-old juvenile molesting a 5-year-old boy and assaulted the teen.

Adams has since been released on $5,000 bond and the 5-year-old is in protective custody.

The teenager is being charged with rape, WKYC reported.

Since the charges were announced, the police Eastlake Police Department has received numerous calls and emails from people frustrated with the case.

The Eastlake Police Department released a statement on the arrests Sunday on Facebook, saying investigators are "diligently working to ensure that everything is done correctly so that justice is served."

"To attack people within the system to achieve a certain outcome is not what justice is about. We appreciate the impact that this story has had on the community and beyond but we expect people to be civil in expressing their disagreement and/or support of what has and will take place," the department wrote.
