Officer throws bullied boy a party after no one shows up to his birthday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WTHR) — A Michigan officer surprised a 9-year-old boy on his birthday after no one showed up to his party.

Officer Lynema and Thomas Daniel met when the 9-year-old had missed the bus to school. So, the officer offered to drive him there.

On the way, Thomas had invited the officer to his birthday party that evening and also confided that he gets bullied at school and was worried no one would show up.

Unfortunately, aside from Ofc. Lynema and Thomas' siblings, no one did.

So the officer took matters into his own hands. The next day, he along with his teammates brought a Krispy Kreme donut cake, presents and a singing quartet to surprise the boy. "This is the best birthday ever!" Thomas told them.

The Grand Rapids Police Department posted about the surprise birthday on their Facebook page.

Part of the post reads: "No kid should get bullied, and no kid should worry if anyone will come to the party. Next year Thomas Daniel, make sure you drop us that invite a little sooner. We wouldn't want to miss it!"
