North Vernon man killed in Jennings Co. crash

JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A North Vernon man died Sunday afternoon when his SUV struck a pole and rolled in rural Jennings County.

State police released details of the crash Sunday night. Craig Coons, 25, was driving north on Jennings County 150 East near C.R. 650 North around 1:30 p.m. when investigators say his KIA Soul left the east side of the road, struck a utility pole, and overturned, coming to rest in the road.

Coons was ejected and died at the scene.

Police reported Coons was not properly restrained when the crash occurred.

Toxicology tests were administered to determine any impairment.

The police investigation is ongoing.
