North Carolina officer dies after shooting; suspect shoots himself

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WCNC) — A police officer was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop in Mooresville, North Carolina Saturday night.

K-9 officer Jordan Harris Sheldon was killed after pulling a driver over around 10 p.m.

The 32-year old was transported from the scene and later died from his injuries.

The suspect in the shooting left the scene after firing his weapon.

He was later located in a nearby apartment. Once police entered the apartment, officials said the suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
