INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Traffic was backed up on the northwest side Friday night after a two-vehicle crash caused an SUV to catch fire.

It happened around 8 p.m. on Interstate 465 in the southbound lanes near West 86th Street.

Indiana State Police said the crash happened when an SUV ran into the back of a travel trailer being towed by a pick-up truck.

The collision caused the trailer to become disconnected from the truck and roll onto its side.

The SUV that struck the trailer caught fire but the occupants of all of the vehicles escaped without injury.

Four lanes of the highway were blocked for a time before INDOT reduced the closure to two lanes for cleanup and crash investigation.

INDOT also treated the road surface, which had become slippery during the effort to extinguish the fire.
