Study: People who prefer black coffee are more likely to be a psychopath

The study investigated a potential link between bitter taste preference and antisocial personality traits.

Innsbruck, Austria (WTHR) — A study suggests that people who drink their coffee black often have psychopathic or sadistic traits.

The study, which was conducted at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, surveyed more than 1,000 adults about their taste preferences with foods and drinks that are bitter. The study investigated a potential link between bitter taste preference and antisocial personality traits.

Those surveyed took four different personality tests that examined traits like narcissism, aggression, sadism and psychopathy.

The study found that people who tend to like bitter foods also had personality traits that could be seen as bitter and unpleasant.

"The present research has demonstrated that bitter taste preferences are associated with 549 more pronounced malevolent personality traits, especially robustly with everyday sadism."

The study in no way suggests that everyone who have bitter taste preferences are psychopaths, but it's definitely something to think about.
