SAN JOSE, Calif. (WTHR) – There's another disgusting video going around on social media and this time Listerine mouthwash is the victim.
After a video of a Texas teen went viral, showing the girl lick Blue Bell ice cream and put it back on the shelf, now it has inspired other copycats.
A video posted to Twitter shows a Walmart shopper pick up a bottle of Listerine mouthwash, gargle and then spit the mouthwash back into the bottle.
Then the shopper is seen putting the bottle back on the shelf and walking away.
After receiving backlash, the Twitter user Bameron Nicole Smith posted photos of the receipt to prove they purchased the mouthwash from Walmart rather than leaving it on the shelf.
"We are committed to product safety and we take product tampering seriously," a representative for Walmart told INSIDER. "If someone tampers with a product and leaves it on the shelf, we will work with law enforcement to identify and prosecute those found responsible."
Sources close to Walmart confirmed to INSIDER via surveillance tape that Smith did, in fact, purchase the Listerine.
Keep in mind, Listerine mouthwash has a plastic seal on the lid. If a bottle had been tampered with, you'd find the seal missing.
